Email Configuration Changes for Platform Upgrade


Detailed Instructions

If you use:

Outlook 2007/2003
Apple Mail

 

Outlook 2007/2003

Open Outlook 2007 or Outlook 2003.

Click Tools and Account Settings.  (In Outlook 2003, it's called E-mail Accounts.)

In the subsequent window, locate the e-mail address you wish to modify and double-click on it.

In the Change Email Account window, locate the Incoming and Outgoing Server settings.

Change the Incoming mail server setting to pop.yourdomainnamehere.com.  For example, pop.learninghosting.com.

Change the Outgoing mail server setting to smtp.yourdomainnamehere.com.  For example, smtp.learninghosting.com.

Change the User Name setting to the full e-mail address.  If the current User Name is johndoe, then the new User Name should be changed to johndoe@yourdomainnamehere.com.  For example, johndoe@learninghosting.com.

Now click More Settings on the lower-right side of the window.

In the subsequent window, click the Outgoing Server tab.

In the Outgoing Server tab, check the "My outgoing server requires authentication" box.  By checking that box, the "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" below it should automatically be selected.

Click OK.

Back on the Change Email Account window, click Next, followed by Finish.

Click Close.

 

Apple Mail

Open Apple Mail.

Click Mail and Preferences.

Click Accounts...

...and then select the e-mail account you wish to modify.

Under the Account Information tab, locate the Incoming Mail Server and User Name settings.

Change the Incoming Mail Server setting to pop.yourdomainnamehere.com.  For example, pop.learninghosting.com.

Change the User Name setting to the full e-mail address.  If the current User Name is johndoe, then the new User Name should be changed to johndoe@yourdomainnamehere.com.  For example, johndoe@learninghosting.com.

Locate the Outgoing Mail Server drop-down menu near the bottom.

Expand the drop-down menu and then select Edit Server List...

If it didn't automatically select the appropriate Outgoing server name, then click it from the list in the top section.  The bottom section appears as such:  

Under the Account Information tab, change the Server Name to smtp.yourdomainnamehere.com.  For example, smtp.learninghosting.com.

Click Advanced tab.  

The User Name should be the same User Name you entered in Step 6.  If not, then please change it now.

Please use default ports and make sure the Use Secure Socket Layer option is unchecked.

Click OK.

Close the Preferences window.
